The handle is made of assembled metal and wooden parts. Brass made and gilded guard and pommel, decorated with fine gilded engraving, notched and silver coated. Decorative ball ending. Birch burl wooden grip.
The scabbard is entirely metal forged and rich adorned. Very fine engraved, gilded and silver coated pictures on both sides. A scene of the legendary Leonardo da Vinci’s sketch of the Vetruvian man drawn on one side. Other illustrations, mostly of flying machines and other Leonardo’s projects and inventions are depicted on both sides of the scabbard. Additional ornamental engravings. Decorative hanger ring.
