The handle is very complex. Two opposite curved quillons with ear ending made of brass and then gilded. Enlarged part of the guard with medallion embedded. Gem inlay on each ear and on the guard. Carved boxwood grip with two order stars on each side with gems inlaid on them. Nickel detents on the basis and on the top of the grip. Gilded decorative pommel.
The scabbard is all-metal forged with decorative mouthpiece, chape and two suspension rings. A locket with a portrait of the Emperor Alexander II, surrounded with solemn wreath is situated on the middle part on one side of the scabbard. Additional decorative rhomb ornaments with order stars inside and small gems at the end. Glace surface on the opposite side of the scabbard.
