Shamshir Sword (№ 1100)

Unique Shamshir sword produced by traditional methods of metalwork and decoration: forging, gold plating, inlay, nickel plating, notching, engraving, wood carving.
Blade of wootz (original Damascus) steel, single-edged and slightly curved. Shaped as a traditional Persian sabers style with typical curving. Distinctive ornamental engravings both sides.
The handle is very complex, made of assembled metal and wooden components. Brass made, engraved and gilded cross guard. Double sided and cross-shaped plate with one big and four surrounding smaller gems inlaid on it. Opposite to each other curved gilded quillions with silver-coated ball ending. Gems inlaid double-sided decorative band that goes from the guard to the pommel. Knee curved and dome shaped pommel with silver-coated semi sphere and gilded ball ending. Ornamental engravings decoration. Wooden grip on carved flakes.
The scabbard is entirely metal made and very rich adorned. Silver and gold coating decorated parts. Three gilded elements – the mouthpiece, the locket in the middle and the chape with engravings and big gems inlay on them. Two silver-coated layers between with gilded engravings and bands of small gems inlay. Engraved and silver-coated tip. Two gilded decorative hangers fastened on the mouthpiece and on the locket.
